Forward Thinking Magazine : August 2010
38 Given the volatility of the 2010 financial year, the Foundation was pleased that its financial contribution to the community remained steady, as economic uncertainties affected planning across both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors. The Foundation also recently renewed its funding support for a range of important community organisations. Macquarie in the community In the year to 31 March 2010 the Macquarie Group Foundation (the Foundation), Macquarie Group’s philanthropic arm, donated $22.6 million to community organisations around the world. This comprises $15.8 million in funding from the Foundation and $6.8 million of Macquarie staff fundraising and donations. Mission Australia, the National Breast and Ovarian Cancer Centre, UNICEF, Can Too, and a number of other not-for-profits which have demonstrated excellence are among those that will continue to receive funding from the Foundation. Importantly, the Foundation looks to provide opportunities for Macquarie staff to support the organisations receiving Macquarie funding.
